Saturday Headliner Announcement

It's finally time we let you know who is going to Headline Saturday at RABIDFEST 2021!

We’ve been looking forward to this for some time, especially in light of postponing our 2020 event. We’re thrilled to announce that Diamond Head will be headlining the Devolution Stage this year!

Diamond Head need no introduction, but here’s one anyway! Formed in the mid-seventies by the legendary Brian Tatler, they quickly became a fundamental part of the NWOBHM scene. They released their first album, Lightning to the Nations in 1980 (one of the best metal albums ever!), and was followed up by Borrowed Time and Canterbury soon after.

The band then took a brief hiatus and came back in 1993 with the album Death and Progress. Another hiatus followed until the early 2000s where they released All Will be Reversed, What’s in Your Head?, Diamond Head and Coffin Train up to the present day. The latter reached number 5 in the UK Rock charts! Many EPs, live albums and compilations have also been released over their 45 year history.

Diamond Head have also been cited as one of the main early influences for Metallica, Megadeth and a multitude of other top Thrash bands, and without bands such as DH, heavy metal wouldn’t be what it is today! This is Testament (see what we did there) to the incredible music the band has produced over the decades!

The band last played Oxford on 5th November 1982, so it will be exactly 39 years and 1 day since they last came to the city!

This is going to be a very special event so don’t delay! Get your tickets now from www.rabidfest.co.uk.
